Obstacle Course

Up to age 8. Potato Sack Hop, Ten Front Snap Kicks (Fast!), crawl through a tunnel, and Board Breaking (Hammer Fist).

Little Tigers Form & Breaking

5 punches and 3 triple punches following the instructor's count, 3 front snap kicks with each leg (right and left), and Hammer Fist Board Breaking.

Little Tigers Zemita Speed Kicking

Competitors will perform as many kicks as possible within the set time, following the instructor's count.

Forms

Competitors must execute rank appropriate, World Taekwondo approved Forms.

Team Forms

Each team must consist of 3 to 5 athletes.

Board Breaking

Any two board breaking techniques of your choice. Boards will be provided for free.

Zemita Speed Kicking

Competitors will perform as many kicks as possible within the set time.

Sparring

All divisions & ages will have 2 rounds, 60 seconds each and 30 seconds resting in between rounds.

Demonstration Team

Team event with multiple members performing together.

A Message from the Tournament Director

Welcome to the 2026 Houston Open Leaders Taekwondo Championships.

Dear Tae Kwon Do Masters, Instructors, Students and Families,

The 2026 Houston Open Leaders Taekwondo Championships will be held on Saturday, September 19th. I encourage you to join us for our championship of Tae Kwon Do.

Our tournament provides you with an opportunity to challenge yourself to raise your performance to a new level, while competing against other members of our Tae Kwon Do family in a safe, fair and friendship-building environment.

You will enjoy meeting staff and students from all of our locations and other schools, and view forms, board breaking and sparring divisions for belt ranks from white through black belts. It is a unique opportunity to see all of our Tae Kwon Do curriculum on display.

Our championship is fun to watch and even more fun to participate in! Make the decision to attend, select your events and begin training toward your goal of a personal best performance. Your instructors are ready to help you to gain the most out of the 2026 championship.

01Obstacle Course Divisions (up to age 8)View competition format and guidelines+

Competition Format: A group of 3 competitors will compete for the 1, 2, and 3 places.

Description and Guidelines:

  1. Competitors will start the course at the same time at mark
  2. Potato Sack Hop

Competition Format: A group of 4 competitors will compete for the 1, 2, and two 3 places.

Divisions Guidelines:

  1. Competitors must present themselves in a respectful manner.
  2. Competitors must execute rank appropriate, World Taekwondo approved Forms.
  3. Performances will be evaluated based on demonstration of Taekwondo;
    1) Techniques   2) Power   3) Focus   4) Spirit
05Team Form DivisionsView competition format and division guidelines+

Competition Format: Competitors in Team Form divisions will be divided into a group of 3 teams and perform their Forms one by one to compete for 1, 2, and 3 places.

Divisions Guidelines:

  1. Can be a mix of ranks, genders and ages within a group.
  2. Each team must consist of 3 to 5 athletes.
  3. Competitors must present themselves in a respectful manner.
  4. Competitors must execute rank appropriate, World Taekwondo approved Forms.
  5. Performances will be evaluated on demonstration of Taekwondo;
    1) Techniques   2) Power   3) Focus   4) Spirit   5) Synchronization
06Board Breaking DivisionsView competition format and division guidelines+

Competition Format: A group of 4 competitors will compete for the 1, 2, and two 3 places.

Divisions Guidelines:

  1. The judges and instructors will hold the boards (Participants will not provide their own holders and Boards. Boards will be provided for free.)
  2. Maximum number of attempts is three (3).
  3. All boards for breaking will be Demo Boards.
  4. Performances will be evaluated based on demonstration of Taekwondo.

07Zemita Speed KickingView competition format and division guidelines+

Competition Format:
A group of 4 competitors will compete for 1st, 2nd, and two 3rd places.

Division Guidelines:

  1. Competitors will perform as many kicks as possible within the set time.
  2. The total number of successful kicks will be counted and recorded.
  3. Performances will be evaluated based on demonstration of Taekwondo:
    1. Speed
    2. Accuracy

08Sparring DivisionsView competition format and division guidelines+

Competition Format: A group of 4 competitors will compete for the 1, 2, and two 3 places.

Sparring Divisions Guidelines:

  1. All rings will use a paper scoring system.
  2. All competitors will be required to provide their own “Sparring Gear”.
  3. No kick to the head allowed for safety reasons.
  4. 1 Point can include kick to the chest, punch to the chest.
  5. No pushing, no pulling, no falling, no stepping out of ring. Otherwise, opponent gets 1 point.
  6. All divisions & ages will have 2 rounds, 60 seconds each and 30 seconds resting in between rounds.

Note: Tournament director may change the time limit and alter weight division if necessary to ensure fairness and maintain safety.
